Italian car magazines name WinterContact TS 860 and WinterContact TS 850 P best in test
Quattroruote magazine: WinterContact TS 860 is the best tire on wet roads and good on snow
Elaborare magazine: WinterContact TS 850 P offers good aquaplaning protection, performs well in the wet, and delivers good handling on snow and dry roads
In two winter tire tests conducted separately by the Italian automotive press, the new WinterContact TS 860 and its “big brother”, the WinterContact TS 850 P, both finished in first place. In the test staged by “Quattroruote”, the WinterContact TS 860 in size 205/55 R 16 H came out on top, while in the test run by “Elaborare” the WinterContact TS 850 P in size 225/40 R 18 took the honors. In both tests, the experts from the editorial teams scrutinized the performance of winter tires from European, American and Asian brands. While “Quattroruote” used a BMW 318d as its test vehicle, “Elaborare” opted for a Peugeot 308 GT. The tire tests appear in the latest issues of both magazines.
Summing up their findings, the journalists were full of praise for the balanced performance of the two tires. While the experts at “Quattroruote” accredited the WinterContact TS 860 with “the best performance on wet roads” and underlined its good performance on snow, their colleagues at “Elaborare” emphasized the good aquaplaning protection offered by the WinterContact TS 850 P, praising its good behavior in the wet and its handling on snow and dry asphalt.
The WinterContact TS 860 and WinterContact TS 850 P are Continental’s two current winter tires for the passenger car sector. While the WinterContact TS 860 is designed for use on compact to mid-range models, the WinterContact TS 850 P is suitable for larger, more powerful models and sports cars. Both of these tires are available in a wide range of sizes to fit almost any passenger car.
